GK'S REFLECTIONS

It was a wonderful thing to celebrate our order’s 90th Anniversary. To all of you that came, thank you very much for making the day a great success. It appears that we may have to fight off the wrath of the rest of the Province though, as our lunch was better attended than the Provincial Dinner has been for many years! I personally think that it makes a hugh difference to hold an activity at lunchtime. This allowed Brothers to travel from around the Province to join us and also for those Brothers and Guests that don’t like to venture out after dark, the chance to attend. I think that it might pay both Province and ourselves to take heed of this. It was also nice to celebrate this occasion with our children there as well. All the children that attended behaved in a way that make their parents very proud. It also feeds our children with fond memories of good times they have had with the Knights and I hope that as they age they will remember these times and join us when their age allows.
These are important times for the order. The recruitment drive has had reasonable success. It was very nice to see 5 prospective new members. It was a very informal event in which a presentation about the order was made and an question and answer session. All of these gentlemen have been invited along to our next council meeting. The order must improve its numbers both on a national level but also for us locally. We have some new blood in our ranks but we need more. New members will bring along new ideas and a renewed zest for the order. I did mention at the Recruitment Evening, the need for newer members so that those that have given so many years valuable and loyal service could take a well earned rest. This also applies at Provincial level. If any of you would like to take up office in the Province please make yourself know as many of the officers would appreciate a break. Please continue to recruit new Brothers when you can.
Yours Fraternally
