February 2011 WELFARE No deaths this month to report from our Council, please continue to keep in your prayers Bro Bill’s wife Carmel who is making slow but steady progress again after suffering a setback in her recovery, Bro John O Brien who has still not been seen for a while, Bro Tony Giordano’s wife Leslie who has had an op on her jaw and is feeling better, and our Chancellor Bro Brian is going to try and make contact with Bro Tony Bickley who has not been seen for a while. Keep our long term sick in your prayers Bro George Dooley, and Bro Kasmirez.
MembeRship We held a successful information evening last weekend in Shaftsbury. Ten potential new members showed up and if all 5 who took forms away return them it is hoped that we can form a Council in Shaftsbury and the surrounding areas of North Dorset. We will be undertaking drives in the local areas of Swanage and Blandford in the coming months. With Fr Marks permission we have recruited Deacon Declan
McConville to become a member of honour for our Council and we have a
new member to “chase down” soon TreasureR Our worthy treasurer is still looking for money, so if
any Brother has outstanding dues could we please pay them ACTION & YOUTH Bro Peter held an Action meeting recently and has shown some interesting ideas to try at all parishes. One such idea is to re-enact the Stations of the Cross at St Marys using an item to signify the relevance of each station. Any Brothers with ideas should address them to Bro Peter. Another idea is to hold a Recollection day maybe at Sway. Good idea I think and it’s nice to have some new ideas to try. Province is holding a training day next Saturday at Chandlers Ford, starting at 9.30 for coffee and finishing at 4pm approximately. It is intended for those who have recently taken up a new office. SOCIal A draft copy of the Social Calendar has been devised and at the moment is available to members of the social committee. Bro Paul will be taking over the reins as social spokesman next month. Our next social is the re-scheduled Lemon Aid Concert, which will take place at St Anthony’s Broadstone this Friday night, tickets are available here and at the door and are £7.50 each and refreshments will be available. Next month we have our St Patricks night celebrations at St Josephs on Saturday 19th March. Again tickets available here. Please remember Bros that these events are organised for you all and your families and they are intended primarily as social gatherings and if we make any money for ourselves or a local charity, then we will all have had a good night.
WE SERVE GOD BY SERVING OTHERS
