Provincial Welfare & Spirituality

Brothers, I am informed that Hilda Deffains, widow of Past Provincial Grand Knight of our Province, died on 11th January and her funeral will take place on Wednesday, 2nd Feb at 10 am at Our Lady Help of Christians, Queens Road, Farnborough. Cards of condolence may be sent to her daughter, Mrs Olien Webster, 55 Salisbury Road, Farnborough, Hants. GU14 7AG. Please pray for the repose of her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed. As you will be aware I am rather preoccupied these days with the health of my wife Carmelita who has suffered a set back in her recovery in hospital by catching two infections. I also commend to you Alison, wife of Brother Vernon Palmer, GK of Weymouth Council whose health is also a cause for concern. Your continuing prayers for our sick and housebound are greatly appreciated. Time is passing quickly and we shall be into the season of Lent before you know it. However, with it comes spring heralding new life. May lent give us the opportunity to renew our own life in the service of Christ. Arguments about the rights and wrongs of our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan dominate the Media whilst our servicemen continue to sacrifice their lives.
