Dear Reverend Fathers Brothers
The Supreme Knight and the Board of Directors say that they
are very pleased to report the continuing efforts by Councils
across the country to recruit new members into the Order, which
is having great results, they are pleased to report that Dearne
Valley Council (538) has been re-erected in Barnsley, it was officially
erected on Saturday August 8th in Corpus Christi Parish of Wombwell,
at the 5.30 pm Mass. There was a Full Knighthood Ceremony held,
and Brother Bertie Grogan, the Deputy Supreme Knight & Director
for Membership and Development, installed the Council Grand Knight,
Brother Neil McKay and the other Council Officers. Congratulations
to the New GK and all the Council members.
The erection of this Council was the result of a lot of hard
work on recruitment by the Brothers of Provincial Council (5)
Leeds, and was spearheaded by the PGK Brother Terry Conneely,
and his team, the average age range of the new Council members
is from 38 years to 43 years. The Order expects great things from
this Council!!
Recruitment by Councils of Province 14 is continuing, we hope
to give a report of all results of Council recruitment drives
in future bulletins. A major effort will be made by Eastleigh
Council (393) to recruit in Winchester and surrounding parishes
of Oliver’s Battery and Alresford and Stockbridge; All Council
GKs have been asked to assist in this campaign and they should
have the details of the venues with the dates and times of the
Masses.
The National Action Plan 2009 Booklet.
At a Board meeting in January 2007 a decision was taken that
at the PGK/BOD meeting in April 2007, the Membership Committee
would organise a Workshop to look at the whole issue of Recruitment,
Retention and Reclamation. All PGKs present at the meeting signed
up to it with enthusiasm. As a result of this Workshop, a national
action plan booklet has been produced which contains a factual
account of events and procedures from that moment, right up to
the present and is ongoing into the future; it will include every
brother in the Order. The first module has been included in this
month's Head Office mail shot, and we are asked to read and discuss
it.
Fraternal Regards,
Pat O’Donovan (Provincial Membership & Development
Officer)
