THE PROVINCIAL GRAND KNIGHT WRITES

20th September 2009

Dear Reverend Fathers & Brothers.

Thank you to the Brothers & Councils that attended the 90th Anniversary Mass at Westminster Cathedral in August there was good attendance from all Southern Provinces.

It was good to see the Grand Knights & Brothers at our Provincial Council meeting on the 6th September. We meet again at Province on Sunday 6th December and it would be good to have at least one Brother from all ten councils in attendance, to discuss with all the Provincial Officers matters that affect your Council. Remember that at this meeting we will be electing the Provincial Grand Knight and nominating Provincial Officers for 2010/11; does your Council have a Brother who wishes to stand? Remember your own Council elections are also pending.

I am pleased to hear that recruitment continues around the Province and it was pleasing to hear of Bournemouth Council’s action & intentions when I visited them recently.
I hope that the Poole Council Provincial lunch will have been a success by the time you read this.

We will have two dates in November to come together as a Province.

1. The annual Deceased Brothers Mass at 7.30 pm St John’s Cathedral Portsmouth. Please ensure that Council Brothers attend with families, Council Widows and any potential new recruits. If GKs have any Brothers ready for elevation to full Knighthood can form M2 be sent now to Br Paul Carey, Provincial Secretary, so that details can be included in the programme.

2. Saturday 14th November Fr Tom, our Provincial Chaplain, has agreed to hold a day of Reflection for us all on Pope Benedict’s ‘Caritas In Veritate’ Charity in Truth. This will be at Wisdom House Romsey from say 10am to 4pm and includes a Soup lunch (£15.00 per person). This will be an excellent opportunity to gain an insight & understanding of the Pope’s latest teaching.

Yours Sincerely and Fraternally
Mike Gallagher
